Welcome to World Legacy Network, a global platform dedicated to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where people can record real-life stories, document artifacts and heritage sites, and build living legacies for future generations.

By accessing or using our websites, web apps, or any related services (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”). Please read them carefully.

If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use the Services.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for an account, accessing, or using the Services, you:

  • confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms; and

  • agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

If you are using the Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization and that “you” in these Terms refers to both you and the organization.

2. Registration and Account Security

a. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to register for an account. If you are under 18, you may only use the Services with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

b. Account Information
You agree to:

  • provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration;

  • keep your information up to date; and

  • not use the Services for any illegal, fraudulent, or unauthorized purpose.

We may refuse or cancel usernames or accounts that impersonate other people, violate trademarks, or otherwise cause confusion.

c. Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

The owner and/or lessee(s) of this website are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account.

3. Community Standards and User Conduct

World Legacy Network is a Living Legacy Network. We aim to protect both your story and the safety of the community.

a. Prohibited Activities
You agree that you will not:

  1. Violate any applicable law or regulation.

  2. Post or transmit any content that is:

    • unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, misleading, or deceptive;

    • obscene, sexually explicit (especially involving minors), or pornographic;

    • hateful or discriminatory, including racism, bigotry, or incitement of violence;

    • harassing, abusive, or intended to threaten or intimidate others.

  3. Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.

  4. Use the Services for unauthorized commercial purposes without our prior written consent.

  5. Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Services, including by:

    • attempting to gain unauthorized access to accounts, servers, or databases;

    • introducing viruses, malware, or other harmful code.

  6. Access, search, or collect data from the Services by any automated means (including, but not limited to, bots, crawlers, spiders, scrapers, or similar tools), except as expressly permitted by us in writing or via an official API.

  7. Use the Services to create, train, or improve competing products, services, or AI models without our prior written consent.

b. User-Generated Content
Many parts of the Services allow you to post, upload, or otherwise submit content (e.g., stories, images, comments, project notes, “My Journey” entries) (collectively, “User Content”).

You understand and agree that:

  • You are solely responsible for your User Content.

  • We do not endorse, support, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of User Content.

  • The views expressed in User Content belong to the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the owner or lessee(s) of this website.

c. Content Guidelines
You agree that your User Content will:

  • not violate any copyright, trademark, moral rights, privacy rights, or other rights of any third party;

  • not contain sensitive personal data of others without their clear consent;

  • not promote self-harm, exploitation, or criminal behavior.

We reserve the right (but are not obligated) to review, remove, or restrict access to any content or account that, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms or may harm the community.

4. User Content and License to World Legacy Network

a. Your Rights
You retain any copyright and other proprietary rights you hold in your User Content, subject to the license you grant below.

b. Your Warranty
By submitting User Content, you represent and warrant that:

  • you own the rights to the User Content or have all necessary licenses and permissions;

  • your User Content does not infringe any third-party rights; and

  • your User Content complies with these Terms and applicable law.

c. License You Grant to Us
To operate, improve, and promote the Services, you grant the owner and/or lessee(s) of this website a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable license to:

  • host, store, reproduce, display, perform, adapt, modify, and translate your User Content;

  • distribute, share, and communicate your User Content on or through the Services and related platforms (for example, backups, content delivery networks, or internal tools);

  • use your User Content in anonymized or aggregated form for analytics, research, and service improvement.

This license continues for as long as your User Content is stored on our systems. Removing your content or closing your account will generally end the ongoing use of that content in new materials, although technical and legal retention (e.g., backups, legal obligations) may persist.

We will seek additional permission if we want to use identifiable User Content in public marketing materials (e.g., featured stories, testimonials) beyond the scope of operating and promoting the Services.

5. Intellectual Property of World Legacy Network

a. Our Content and Technology
The Services—including, without limitation:

  • all software, code, algorithms, databases, and APIs;

  • site architecture, navigation, and data structures;

  • visual layouts, user interface (UI), user experience (UX) flows, templates, and scrapbook designs (including “My Journey” dashboard and public pages);

  • graphics, logos, text, branding, and other original content—

are owned by the owner and/or lessee(s) of this website or their licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, trade dress, and other intellectual property laws.

Except for rights expressly granted in these Terms, no rights are transferred to you, and all rights are reserved.

b. Your License to Use the Services
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Services for your personal, non-commercial use (or your own organization’s internal use) in accordance with these Terms.

You may not:

  • resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Services;

  • use the Services to provide a competing or similar service without explicit written permission.

c. Protection Against Cloning, Scraping, and Reverse Engineering
To protect the integrity of our platform and the community’s content, you agree that you will not, without our prior written consent:

6. Artificial Intelligence–Generated Content

Some content on this site may be generated or assisted by artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

  • AI-generated content may contain generalizations, inaccuracies, or incomplete information.

  • Such content is provided for informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute professional advice.

We encourage you to independently verify important information and seek professional advice where appropriate.

7. Privacy

Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.

If we cannot resolve the dispute informally, then, to the extent permitted by law:

  • the dispute will be resolved by binding arbitration or, where available, in small claims court;

  • arbitration will be conducted in the United States (or another mutually agreed location), in English, by a single neutral arbitrator;

  • the arbitrator’s decision will be final and binding on both parties.

No Class Actions
You agree that any arbitration or court proceeding will be conducted only on an individual basis and not as a class, consolidated, or representative action.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the Services complies with local laws and regulations in your country, including:

  • laws regarding online conduct and acceptable content;

  • data protection and privacy laws;

  • export control and sanctions laws.

If any part of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that part will be interpreted to reflect the parties’ original intent as closely as possible, and the remaining portions will remain in full force and effect.
